I have an extra copy of Ted Dekker and Carl Medearis’ new book, Tea With Hezbollah. Quite frankly it is one of the most eye opening an amazing books I have ever read. (I’ll post my review next week on the 25th when it comes out).

I think I deserve the book because I am secretly planning a mission to the middle east to hunt down those pesky infadels just like the good old boys did back in the 1100’s. I need to know how they think what they fear and how to get at them. I’m going old school with the cadapults and seige towers and everything. For a visual idea watch “Kingdom of Heaven.” So that’s why I think you should give me the book.

Well, since you posted this six hours ago and no one has responsed yet I think I should get it plus I am a history major and really need to broaden my horizon beyond southern american history and just in case you need further convincing, one of the pastor I work with is a former missionary to the middle east so this would make a great conversation starter plus Glenn needs another book for his shelf :o)

this book would certainly broaden your horizens and put a damper on your plan… It’s about loving your enemies. And what you wrote (though you said it in jest) is the impression that many in the middle east have of us.

I have heard from several folks that Ted Dekker is an excellent author, but I have not yet read any of his books. This is one I would love to read since the setting is in a culture that is very different from the one we know but should learn about. I am reading another book about one of the major players in the Middle East and would love to compare that with one written by a Middle Eastern expert, of which this book is one.
Although the culture and views of people in the Middle East is vastly different from those of us in the Western world, we must understand that we “wrestle not against flesh and blood…” Christ died for them just as He did for us. We need to see folks who are adamently diametrically opposed to us as ones He loves and for whom He died and folks that we, too, must love, pray for and reach with the gospel.

Other than the fact it would help complete my collection of ted dekker books, I would like to win this book becuase of the truly eye opening way dekker has in making people look in to their heart and learn to love those who most think cannot be loved. Or would rather not be loved. He is one of the best, moving and heartfelt authors I have read in many years. The diveristy of his writing is amazing. Plus I need a book that appears to be less fiction, and I’m poor. 😉

Ted Dekker’s books are awesome. Growing up in Saudi and traveling
to Beirut and going to school in Egypt…Tea with Hezbollah..definitely should be a must read for all..open your eyes
and ears to hear from other cultures. Howard, what book are you reading about the Middle East? I would be interested in reading it.

I would like to win this book because I have never read a book by either of these authors. Also, working at Washington High with First Priority and going to UWF I have come in contact with many Muslim people and I would like some insight on how to relate to them and how to maybe bridge the gap of the presenting the gospel. And if it works for me and provides some insight then I could share it with the students at FP and equip themwith some tools for reaching their Muslim student body.
